Experimental Proposal
First of all, an experimental animation is a film which
consists of various elements which don’t have a plot behind it. It can be very
random and the majority of animation techniques can be used. I will be
producing two films for this project which last no more than thirty seconds,
and reflects on a range of ideas and influences that come from a range of sources.
Animation Technique
The animation technique that I will be using for my
experimental projects is Stop Motion. The reason why this method has been
chosen is because it works with the visual materials and how animating the film
is going to be physical. I have grown up with this type of animation and was
influenced by a lot of Claymation (Wallace and Gromit), which throughout the
years I have become very passionate about. Furthermore, the choice of software is important towards the production stage, as it can affect how and where you create the project at. StopMotion Studio will be used for both films, as it is portable and I have the ability to film in a variety of locations, if necessary. As for the ten second piece, it'll consist of 3D elements, to attract the target audience and to keep the visuals appealing to the human eye.
Influences and Ideas
Influences and Ideas
When coming up with the idea for my experimental pieces, I
was influenced nature that surrounds me, which allowed me to look and observe
different elements around me. I was fascinated by how the trees swayed side to
side and how the birds anticipated their take off into the sky. By absorbing
this influence into an actual sequence, will make the animation more
vibrant to the eye. To make it more realistic there will
be real life nature objects in the movie itself (leafs). Furthermore when
coming up with an idea for the E4 project I reflected on two of the biggest trends
in the world today, which is Music and Technology. All things related to these areas
always grabs the attention of viewers, and always offers something new to the
table.
What will it look like?
To start off with, the first experimental animated film is
made out of real life objects and paper cut outs. The start will consists of
jungle-alike leafs, that is animated to move outwards to cue the first scene,
then it will quickly go into the scene where the birds hatch and fly away. This
will lead them to falling to the ground and exploding to finish. When it comes
to the time of the E4 production, it will consist of bringing an iPod to life
and walking to a paper monster. When that sequence has completed, the E4 logo
will be spat out instead of the device and will form back together from the
countless fragments.
