Stage 1 – Research
With being a
part of this unit allows people from a variety of creative paths to collide,
and to collaborate and develop ideas towards the whole scope of the set project.
My group and I have had discussions throughout recent weeks, and have concluded
to a decision which we are basing our work around love, betrayal, and forgiveness.
This is a very open subject which is easily expandable and can lead onto a wide
range of paths, which can be developed and interpreted in different ways.
When we were
all put together as a team, we immediately started brainstorming ideas and
developed on those, which came together as a potential strong point of our
image as a group. Our idea of colliding all of our specific areas of art and
design into the fray can put our creative minds to the test and allow our group
material, to be noticed and prolific compared to the other competitors.
By including animation in our group project
can allow the audience to interact with the work, whilst connecting with the
visuals upon screen. For this area of study, the group listed all of the
possible films, which can be easily reflected and referable when understand
what is going on in the animation upon screen. James Stewart in the film
Vertigo (Director; Alfred Hitchcock,
Release; 1958) allowed me to identify how I can reflect the plot of the
film, towards our collaborative art and design project. With that being said, the idea of 2D animating
a downward spiral (as seen on the movie poster; aside), of someone in a
similar state that James Stewart's Character was in. This could make it more effective,
and also colliding that with Film-Making and Photography elements, will bring in
more diverse approach to the overall finished project.
In addition to
the above, by colliding the film-making and photography into the final piece
will allow us to display visuals and also allow our chosen area of choosing, to
be understood and connected a lot more efficiently for our audience members. Projection
mapping which will allow our ideas to come to live, and blend with the on-going
development of the filming material. One
of our ideas was to project different genres of music for a specific scene in
the movie. The main role would be being socially interactive on their mobile
phone and listening to the preferred area of music, which then could possibly
bring the on-going issue of cyber-bullying on social media, which then will
transpire into the animation part, and allow the special effects to be built
together and allow an effective display to be witnessed.
Furthermore,
an additional idea that our group may go ahead with is making a scene in the
night club, which will make the love and betrayal acting side to come into
play, and could possibly bring in transgender or develop the story on a gay
couple for a more equality approach.
